Having taught Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies as part of the Diploma Programme, access to the IB programme during my school years would have been much more beneficial for the future.

This means that students who complete the program have a distinct advantage when it comes to applying for higher education or finding employment. Universities are known to have a positive view of IB Diploma graduates, as the program helps students to develop the skills and techniques that set young people up for success in higher education.


Another reason why the IB Diploma has the edge over other high school qualifications is that it encourages students to think critically and independently. The core of the programme encompasses Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). Alongside six subjects to be studies, students must engage in these core activities to obtain their Diploma. The opportunities the core programme offers truly sets students up for the future. These activities give the IB Diploma the edge over other curricula. This helps to develop students’ critical thinking skills and their ability to solve complex problems. These skills are highly valued by universities and employers, as they are essential for success in a wide range of careers.

The IB Diploma is also known for its focus on international-mindedness.
